# Email and calendar

> Connect your inbox once and Parley keeps your cases and correspondence in sync, including meeting transcripts.

Connect your Gmail or Outlook inbox and Parley keeps your cases and your email in sync on its own. No dropping messages into the chat, no copying case context into a Project.

## What connecting does

* **Creates and updates records.** New Contacts and Accounts are created from your correspondence, and existing records update based on what's in the conversation.
* **Gives you a readable thread view.** Catch up on a case without digging through your inbox.
* **Drafts your replies.** Every email that needs a reply gets a draft written in your tone, ready for you to review and send.
* **Makes correspondence available to the Agent.** Your client emails can inform a brief, or you can ask for a quick follow-up drafted from the history.

Because the Agent can read across it, the inbox becomes something you can ask questions of:

> "Which of my cases are stalling, and who should I follow up with?"

> "What deadlines are approaching that are urgent?"

> "Which of my consultations from this week should I take on as cases?"

## Setting it up

Go to **Settings → Email and Calendar** and connect your inbox. You'll choose a visibility level at the same time:

| Visibility | What your team sees |
| ----------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Full Access** | Shared context across client correspondence — teammates can read the messages |
| **Metadata Only** | Who emailed and when, without the contents of the message |

Pick the one that matches how your firm handles client communication. Metadata Only still lets Parley keep records and dates current for you while keeping the messages themselves private.

## Meeting Bot

Parley can send a notetaker to your calls. Turn on **Record Meetings** under **Settings → Email & Calendar**, and for any synced meeting Parley will:

* Join the call and transcribe it
* Attach the full transcript to the relevant Contact, Account, or the Project's Activity tab
* Let you and your team read back exactly what was said, whether or not you were on the call

After a call, open the meeting from the Contact's Activity feed to read the transcript, or ask:

> "What do we need to follow up with \[Client Name] on after yesterday's meeting?"

<Note>
  Your firm chooses which meetings get recorded. Recording is off until you turn it on, and you stay in control of which calls the notetaker joins.
</Note>

## How this feeds case management

Correspondence and transcripts count as context for [self-driving fields](/self-driving/fields). A date confirmed over email or a status mentioned on a call can update the record the same way a document in the Project would — so the case management keeps up with conversations, not just filings.
